• What is the origin of International Women's Day?

The full name of International Women's Day is "United Nations Women's Rights and International Peace Day", also known as "International Women's Day", "March Eighth" and "March Eighth Women's Day".On March 8, 1857, women garment and textile workers in New York, USA, held a protest against inhumane working conditions and basic wages. In 1975, the Australian Women's Movement against inhumane working conditions, the 12-hour working day and low wages.The marchers were besieged and dispersed by the police, and two years later, in March, the women organized their first union.March 8, 1911 was the first International Working Women's Day.

China began commemorating the March Eighth Festival in 1922.Chinese women's first mass commemoration of the "March Eighth" Festival was held in Guangzhou in 1924.In December 1949, the State Council of the Central People's Government set March 8 as Women's Day.In 1977, the General Assembly adopted a resolution inviting each country to designate a day of the year as the United Nations Day for Women's Rights and World Peace, in accordance with its history and national traditions.International Women's Day is celebrated on March 8.
